Operationally, I would prefer semi-autonomous weapons systems to allow for human judgment, but I understand that is not always viable when executing distributed maritime operations.
Based on your article, I would absolutely consider joining the cap table during the next round if the growth continues and the numbers make sense.

I like Navies more than I like air forces and drones. I'm guessing, without an ounce of expertise, that Navies on the whole do more good than harm. Or they can. They rescue, they blockade, they safeguard the seabed and they teach every sailor to swim (or don't they?). I know they're also capable of launching missiles and starving innocent populations and keep prisoners out of the clutches of the American judicial system, among other nefarious efforts. But MOST of an air force is for carrying bombs; pilots are the cowboys of the atomic age. How this plays out over the next century is an open question, considering how the techno-geeks have no concept of potential fall-out of their new technologies. I mean, raise your hand if you're willing to climb aboard the first ship to Mars in the foreseeable future. Raise your hand if you've never glanced at your phone and found on the screen an ad geared to a topic you and your wife were just talking about—in another room!
I especially liked the backstory and founding-team analysis here. The combination of maritime engineering, military experience, machine learning, defense consulting, and private-equity discipline helps explain why Saronic has moved so quickly from a concept into functioning autonomous vessels and a much larger shipbuilding ambition.
The brief bear case and the skepticism about a near-term IPO also make the piece stronger. A nearly $10 billion valuation, uncertain margins, enormous Port Alpha investment, and dependence on government procurement leave plenty that still has to be proved.
One part of the story I would be interested in seeing developed further is Dino Mavrookas’s military background as a business advantage. Eleven years as a Navy SEAL and eight combat deployments would give him more than credibility. Johnson's phony Tet Offensive in 1964 and before that Kennedy's 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion, sending a bunch of anti-Castro exiles to try to invade Cuba (which went so catastrophically wrong that he broke down in tears in front of his wife), which in turn led to the Cuban Missile Crisis
